Hi Everyone...I had my thyroid checked on Friday and I was a basket case. The last time (October) I was running slightly hyper. The Doctor's office called today and I was back to where I run the best 1.6. I was so elated I did not get the rest of the information but when they send a copy in the mail I will Post all the numbers. That was the best birthday, Christmas and New Year's gift and I truly hope for everyone still struggling that you eventually will get the right readings. Talk to you all soon and thank you all for always sharing and giving POSITIVE feedback....Love...Kat

Kat, glad you are doing well. Hope everyone else is too. Bonnie the grandkid pictures were cute. Disney at Christmastime must be a big thing these days. I know several people who went this year.
Next Monday is my LONG awaited appointment with the new endo. Hope the weather is ok, because they are predicting some snow. But it's far enough off that the forecast could change several times between now and then. Went to the cardiologist 2 days ago. Going back for a stress test next week and then most likely a coronary calcium scan to check for plaque which he said if I don't have any at my age I'll probably never develop any. He said my blood pressure isn't that high, since as you age it gets higher. So if he's not that concerned, I don't think my current endo should be. He might have me wear a halter monitor too to check out the palpitations, which haven't been bad lately, and the occasional chest pain. I wish I had it on at the gym today since I had some chest pain. Since I'm going for the stress test on Wednesday I plan to ask if he wants to put it on while I'm there so I can wear it at the gym on Thursday. That should give him a bunch of good readings, since he said he can't really tell what any problems might be unless he can get a reading while I have a palpitation or chest pain. The EKG in his office was fine, because I was feeling fine at the time I was there.
I haven't taken the Cytomel yet because I want to see what the new endo says and if she will hopefully test my T3 levels. Plus I want to make sure all the heart issues are ok before I try it. The cardiologist asked which endo I was going to go to and he said he knows her and she and the other doctors in her practice are good, so fingers crossed.

Hi Everybody,
I hope you are all doing well.
However ... I never see many people posting any side effects. We need to hear the GOOD and the BAD experiences just like the board we originally met on.
I know there are people still struggling and we really need to hear from you and see you post all of your experiences, blood work, side effects and even "feeling great" comments. After all, that's why I worked so hard to make this board for us (and I was so absolutely happy to do it) when the other one was so rudely taken away from us.
I hope this finds you all well and "thyroid happy" BUT if it does or doesn't - we are all here to support one another.
Also what is everybody taking? I am taking Levoxyl and feeling pretty good.
Janet

Went to the new endo today. Really liked her. She did an ultrasound of the half a thyroid I still have left. She was surprised no one ever had done that since I had the other half removed almost 30 years ago. I have a very tiny nodule, but she said it's nothing she would worry about, but would recommend checking it again in another year. She agrees that especially in light of my heart concerns that my T3 should be tested before taking the Cytomel. She said if the T3 results are low she would do it, but if they are middle or high she wouldn't. I am kind of hoping the bloodwork shows I do need it because I am hoping it would help. Just don't want to do anything that could cause heart issues. Here's what the paperwork says she is testing: T4/T3u/TSH,ultra/T3,total. She said Reverse T3 wasn't really needed. She said she doesn't test antibodies in my particular situation, which my old endo always did, because it's more for diagnosing Hashimoto's, and once you know you have it, it doesn't need to be tested for. My old endo tested for antibodies, Free T4, and TSH. Never anything T3. So does what the new endo is testing for sound good? I have scheduled the blood test for tomorrow. Once she gets the results she'll decide if I should try taking the Cytomel. She also mentioned some other T4, Tri something, that she said if I wanted to try instead of the Levoxyl I could. Anyone know about/have any experience with that? Thanks.

Bonnie,
I am so glad you saw the Dr. I am so glad your blood work was sooooooo good. I am so sorry you are still having problems. Is she running any tests on you for your tongue? I hope they get resolved. Did she mention you trying any other thyroid meds? I hope that 30 day supply from a different Pharmacy is ok. I'll say a prayer for you.

Just quickly logging in to post blood test results before I go lay down. My daughter most likely has the flu and I hope I'm not getting sick too. Total T4 8.6, T3 Uptake 33, Free T4 2.8 (which is up from 1.4 in November), Total T3 87, TSH 2.03 (up from 1.18 in November, it was .63 last May.) Everything says it's within range, but since I have never had some of these things tested before, I don't know if they are really ok or not. The T3 Uptake is on the high side of the range and the Total T3 is on the low end. The new endo said if my T3 was on the low end of the acceptable range she would put me on the Cytomel, but since there are 2 T3 numbers I don't know which one is the important one. I will call her tomorrow if she doesn't call me first.

Dear Terry...I am not knowledgeable about the T3 and T4's. The TSH I totally understand. What are you going to do? Are you going to take the levoxyl? When you TSH was "hyper" last May what thyroid medicine were you taking? I would talk it over with you new Doctor. I will check back to my thyroid tests and see if I can help. I am sure other people on the forum can give you a better explanation over the T3 and T4's. I started to come down with a cold but feel much better today. Hope your daughter is feeling better and you did not get sick. Prayers for all of us...Love...Kat
